Axtel Headset Connection Guide

Quick guide to help you choose the right version and connect your headset with ease.

Wired Connections

USB-A & USB-C

Many modern Axtel headsets connect directly to a computer via USB-A or USB-C, particularly UC and softphone-focused models such as Axtel FlowAxtel One, and other USB variants.

  • USB-A: Traditional rectangular USB connector found on most PCs and docking stations
  • USB-C: Smaller, reversible connector commonly found on newer laptops and tablets

💡 Tip: Always check which ports your computer has before ordering. Some Axtel models are available in both USB-A and USB-C versions.

USB headsets are plug and play and ideal for use with Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet and other softphone platforms.

Quick Disconnect (QD)

A key feature of many Axtel professional headsets is the Quick Disconnect (QD) system.

QD allows the headset itself to remain the same while different cables are used to connect to different devices.

Common uses:

  • Desk phones
  • Office phone systems
  • Flexible multi-device setups

💡 Must-know for Axtel:
Axtel QD connectors are Axtel-specific and are not cross-compatible with Jabra or Plantronics/Poly QD cables.

Desk Phone Connections

When using an Axtel headset with a desk phone, a phone-specific QD cable is required.

These cables vary depending on the phone manufacturer and model and ensure correct:

  • Audio levels
  • Microphone performance
  • Call clarity

This setup is common in traditional office and call-centre environments.

Computer Connections (QD to USB)

Axtel QD headsets can also be connected to computers using a QD-to-USB cable or adapter.

This allows:

  • One headset to be used for both desk phone and PC
  • Easy switching between office phone systems and softphones

This is ideal for hybrid working and shared desk environments.

Wireless Connections

Bluetooth® Headsets

Some Axtel models offer Bluetooth wireless connectivity, allowing connection to:

  • Laptops
  • Mobile phones
  • Tablets

Bluetooth headsets are best suited for users who want mobility and cable-free working.

Typical Bluetooth characteristics across Axtel wireless models:

  • Bluetooth version: Commonly Bluetooth 5.x
  • Range: Up to approx. 30 m / 100 ft (environment dependent)
  • Power: Rechargeable via USB cable

💡 Bluetooth models are ideal for flexible working but are typically used for softphones and mobile devices, rather than traditional desk phones.

Multi-Device Flexibility

Axtel’s modular approach means many users choose:

  • QD headset with multiple cables
  • Or a USB headset alongside a desk phone setup

This allows one headset to work across:

  • Desk phone
  • PC or laptop
  • Softphone platforms

Microsoft Teams vs UC (Unified Communications)

Some Axtel USB headsets are available in:

  • Microsoft Teams-optimised versions
  • UC (Unified Communications) versions
  • MS versions provide enhanced Teams integration
  • UC versions are designed for broad compatibility with Zoom, Google Meet, Webex and other platforms

💡 Important: Both versions will work with Microsoft Teams — MS variants simply add deeper native integration.

Choosing the Right Axtel Connection

  • Computer-only use: USB-A or USB-C headset
  • Desk phone use: QD headset with phone-specific cable
  • Hybrid working: QD headset with both phone and USB cables
  • Mobile or flexible use: Bluetooth headset

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

  • Headset not recognised by PC: Try a different USB port or reconnect the headset.
  • Bluetooth not pairing: Clear previous Bluetooth pairings and reconnect.
  • Poor sound quality: Ensure the headset is fully charged or move closer to the connected device.
  • No Teams controls: You may be using a UC version (fully compatible with Teams, but without a dedicated Teams button).
  • No audio on desk phone: Check you are using the correct Axtel QD cable for your phone model.
