Jabra Headset Connection Guide

Quick guide to help you choose the right version and connect your headset with ease.

Wired Connections

USB-A & USB-C

Most modern Jabra headsets (such as the EvolveEvolve2, and Biz series) connect via USB-A or USB-C.

  • USB-A: The traditional rectangular connector found on most PCs and docking stations.
  • USB-C: A smaller, reversible connector increasingly common on modern laptops (e.g., MacBook, Surface, newer Dell/HP devices).

💡 Tip: Always check your computer ports before ordering. If you use both types, many models offer two variants.

3.5mm Jack

Some wired models (e.g., Evolve 30Evolve 40Biz 2300) feature a 3.5mm audio jack in addition to USB.
This allows flexible use with smartphones, tablets, or devices without a USB port.

Wireless Connections

Bluetooth® Headsets

Common across the EvolveEvolve2, and Speak ranges.
Perfect for laptop, tablet, and mobile users who want mobility.

  • Typical Bluetooth Version: 5.0 or 5.2
  • Connection Range: Up to 30m / 100ft
  • Paired Devices: Most Jabra Bluetooth headsets can pair with up to 8 devices and connect to 2 simultaneously(known as dual connectivity).
  • Power: Headsets like the Evolve2 55/65/75/85 require charging via USB or a charging stand.

💡 Note: Some models like the Evolve2 50 use Bluetooth for secondary device pairing (e.g. mobile phone) but must remain USB-powered via cable when connected to a PC.

DECT Wireless (For Desk Phones & PC Softphones)

Used mainly by the Jabra Engage series (Engage 55, 65, 75).
DECT provides long-range, interference-free communication — ideal for busy offices and call centres.

  • Range: Up to 150m / 490ft from base or dongle.
  • Connection: Via DECT base station or Jabra Link 400 USB dongle.
  • Simultaneous Connectivity: Engage 75 supports multiple devices (PC, desk phone, mobile, etc.).
  • Security: DECT is encrypted and offers stronger call stability than Bluetooth.

💡 DECT vs Bluetooth: Choose DECT for maximum range and reliability in office environments; choose Bluetooth for flexibility and mobility between devices.

Dual & Multi-Connectivity

Many Jabra headsets can connect to more than one device at a time.
For example:

  • Evolve2 65 / 75 / 85 – Bluetooth and USB for charging/data.
  • Evolve2 50 – USB-A/C and Bluetooth (USB power required).
  • Engage 75 – DECT, USB, and Bluetooth.
  • Speak 750 – Bluetooth and USB.

💡 Dual connectivity allows you to connect, for example, to your laptop and mobile simultaneously, switching between them seamlessly.

Microsoft Teams vs UC (Unified Communications)

Jabra headsets are available in two main variants:

  • Microsoft Teams Certified (MS) – Includes a dedicated Teams button, LED indicator and plug-and-play integration.
  • UC Certified (Unified Communications) – Works universally with Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, 8x8 and other softphones.

💡 Both versions work perfectly with Microsoft Teams. The MS model just adds dedicated Teams functionality.

Connection Accessories

To get the most from your Jabra headset, a few accessories are worth knowing about:

  • Jabra Link 380 (A or C): Bluetooth adapter for wireless models.
  • Jabra Link 400: DECT dongle for Engage 55.
  • Jabra Link 260 / 360 / 950: Adapters for desk phones or PC use.
  • Charging Stands: Available for Evolve2 65, 75 and 85 models.
  • Extension Cables: Handy if your USB ports are out of reach.

Choosing the Right Connection

Here’s a simple guide based on the type of device you use:

  • Laptop or PC (USB-A): Choose USB-A or Link 380A models such as Evolve, Evolve2, or Engage 55.
  • Laptop or PC (USB-C): Choose USB-C or Link 380C models such as Evolve2 or Speak 750.
  • Mobile or Tablet: Bluetooth or 3.5mm models like Evolve2 65 or Speak 510.
  • Desk Phone: DECT models such as Engage 65 or 75.
  • Conference Rooms: USB + Bluetooth speakerphones from the Speak range

Troubleshooting Connection Issues

  • Headset not recognised by PC: Try another USB port or update via Jabra Direct software.
  • Bluetooth not pairing: Clear previous pairings and reconnect.
  • Poor sound quality: Charge your headset or move closer to the dongle.
  • No Teams controls: You may be using a UC model (still fully compatible, just without Teams button).
